mustafa sen [ orhaniye marine ] 27-Apr-2009There is an interesting, ankle deep sandbar that comes way out into the bay, and it is common for tourists to walk from the beach about 500 meters from the shore. Even when you are used to it, one does a double take every time you look up and see someone casually walking on the water in the middle of the bay just a few meters from the boat.
The guide books say that you can anchor behind the sand bar too.
When I was there, there was a camel on the beach that would pose with tourists for pictures.

Sand bar (Point of Interest)
This must be an ancient submerged harbour wall stretching out into the bay from the beach bar just half a meter below the surface.
Tourists regularly walk out on the bar, and it is quite alarming to come up into ones cockpit to find people wading knee deep in the mniddle of the bay just off the bow of your anchored vessel.

I anchored near the head of the bay just off the restaurants.There was much waving of flags to try and attract boats to the restaurant docks, which are free of charge and have electricity and water. I think you are expected to have dinner.
